Goaltending Tips > Poke Check

.... The Poke Check move is very risky, going for it will leave your five-hole open and that's why its key to know when to use it. First off, make sure that your goaltending stick has a big enough "but-end" so that when you slide your hand up the stick, your hand will be stopped at the top and it won't fly out of your hand. The Poke Check is a very fustrating move for the opposing offensemen. Use it when they are on a break but are being harrased at by defence (hooked), when the puck is in the open in front of the net or when a player is deking. It's a very simple move, just slide your hand to the top of the stick and try to wack the puck away.
